State Senator Neil Anderson and State Representative Norine Hammond concluded a Senior Expo in Carthage, offering free resources and services to seniors. The event aimed to provide essential services conveniently to the elderly population in rural areas.

“Our seniors play an incredible role in our communities and hosting an event like this in a rural area ensures they have convenient access to important services,” said Senator Anderson.

The expo featured nearly 40 vendors, including first responders and various agencies. Attendees benefited from health screenings such as blood pressure checks, A1C tests, strength assessments, ICASH assistance, prescription drug disposal, and veterans’ services.

“This event is truly a one-stop shop for seniors in west central Illinois,” said Representative Hammond. “It’s not only a chance to connect our senior community with the services they need, but it also allows us as legislators to hear directly from residents and service providers about the issues that matter most.”

Senator Anderson and Representative Hammond intend to continue hosting the annual Senior Expo with plans for future expansion.

Participating organizations included AGE Rehab & Medical Fitness, Alternatives for Older Adults, Alzheimer’s Association, Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Program, Aetna, AT&T, Carthage Fire & Rescue, Carthage Police Department, Carthage Public Library, Evergreen Center, Hancock County Clerk's Office among others.
