Pawnee school board recognizes student of the month

The Pawnee Community Unit School District No. 11 Board of Education met April 21 to recognize Kailey Lomelino as the PHS Student of the Month for April.

The Pawnee Community Unit School District No. 11 Board of Education meets on the third Thursday of each month. An executive session begins at 6 p.m. followed by an open session at 7 p.m. Meetings are held at the district office, 810 Fourth St.

President Craigmiles called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm

Hamilton.

Info 2. Request Closed Session to discuss the employment, compensation,

resignation of specific employees of the District, collective bargaining matters between the

District and its employees or their representative, student discipline and to discuss pending or

probable litigation as provided by 5ILCS 120/2(C)1,2,9, and 11.

Supt. Alexander read a thank you note from the Assembly of God for the district’s donation of a

scoreboard to their church.

Info 4. Good News

Principal Loftus mentioned the well-attended Mother/Son and Father/Daughter dances and the

Open House/Art Show.

Principal Kratochvil recognized Kailey Lomelino as the PHS April Student of the Month; the

PJHS Students of the Month, 7th grader Hannah Ward and 8th grader Carsen Jarrett.

Supt. Alexander recognized Nancy McTaggart for her excellent work on the 4/19/16 compliance

visit. Jessie Ervin was also recognized for the $4210 grant award for updating outdated

financial materials.

President Craigmiles congratulated Brady Jarrett and Zach Schober for winning the first ever

Bass Fisherman award and board member Wort commended the Kindergarten orientation team

for an excellent informational program.

Info 5. PTO and Student Council updates

The Student Council updated the board on the UCP successful telethon, the upcoming Teacher

Appreciation and member elections.

6. Approval of Minutes

Action 6.1 Approve regular board meeting minutes of March 17, 2016

Motion: Approve the 3/17/16 regular board meeting minutes.

Carolyn Alspaugh addressed the board concerning her dissatisfaction with the school’s

insurance as it pertains to her January accident in front of the school.

Action 10.8 Set dates and times of regular meetings

a starting time of 7:00pm for open session and 6:00pm starting time for closed

session.

Recognize Kailey Lomelino as the Pawnee High School April Student of the

Month. Kailey is the daughter of Carol Lomelino.

Recognize the Pawnee Junior High March Students of the Month. They are 7th

grader Hannah Ward the daughter of Mike and Vickie Ward and 8th grader

Carsen Jarrett the daughter of Jeff and Sheila Jarrett.

Congratulations to Brady Jarrett and Zach Schober as they won the Edinburg

Open Bass Fishing tournament!!

Senior Pawnee Chorus students, Madelyn Frye and Ethan Reinwald and junior

Lindsey Scherff were selected to perform with the 100 voice Bradley University

Honor Choir on Thursday, March 31st. The choir is comprised of outstanding

vocalists throughout central Illinois. In addition Madelyn auditioned for, and was

selected, to perform in a small women's group that was featured during one

song.

Congratulations to Mia Burwitz and Genna Howard on their “Best of Show” win at

the art show last night. Mia won the charcoal/pastel category and Genna won the

pen and ink category.
