ACTION ITEMS

Consideration of Board Member Resignation – Mr. Cantrell moved, seconded by Mr. Lonergan to accept the resignation of Board Member Cheryl Ballard effective September 27, 2016, with regret. Roll: Cantrell, Lonergan, White, Maul, Wagner and Beard. Nay; None.

Discussion – Mr. Beard suggested that the press release be sent immediately and that applications should be due no later than the end of the day on October 25, 2016. The Board discussed the possibility of appointing a committee to conduct the interviews as not everyone is available on the 26th. The Special Meeting on October 26th will begin at 5:00 pm at the Central Office for the purpose of conducting interviews for the vacant board seat. The meeting will include an action item to appoint the new member. If the decision is not made that night, the vote could be moved to November 2, 2016. The Board should provide a reason or reasons why a particular person is chosen. Superintendent Ptacek recommended that the Board appoint someone who truly only wants to serve temporarily. By doing so, the public would have a voice in electing a permanent member.

President Beard advised that the press release should include all requirements listed in the School Code.

Mrs. White reported that she has accepted an early retirement buy-out from her employer and she will be moving out of the county. She did not know when the move would take place but she will be working until June 30, 2016.

ADJOURNMENT – Mr. Cantrell moved, seconded by Mr. Lonergan to adjourn the meeting at 6:15pm. Roll: Cantrell, Lonergan, Maul, Wagner, White and Beard. Nay; None.
