The Jerseyville City Council met Oct. 11 to approve a Wal-Mart fundraiser.

The Jerseyville City Council makes laws, budgets city money, investigates city agencies and employees as needed, and generally serves as the legislative division of the municipal government. The council meets at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.
OCTOBER 11, 2016
The Jerseyville City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. in the Jerseyville City Hall.
Roll call: Present were Commissioners Steve Pohlman, Kevin Stork, and Richard Perdun and Mayor Bill Russell. Comm. Gary Goetten was absent. Also present was City Attorney Bill Strang.
Comm. Pohlman led the opening prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
A motion was made by Comm. Pohlman and seconded by Comm. Stork, to approve the minutes of the last regular meeting on September 27, 2016, Roll call vote showed all present voted aye; no nays, motion carried.
A motion was made by Comm. Stork, seconded by Pohlman, to approve the bills as presented which totaled $468,353.31. Roll call vote showed all present voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
A motion was made by Comm. Stork, seconded by Comm. Perdun, to approve the request from Wal-Mart to hold a fundraiser on Saturday, 10/15/16, (rain date 10/22/16) at the intersection of State Hwy #67 & #16 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. They will provide a certificate of insurance as usual and wear brightly colored vests for safety. Roll call vote showed all present voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
A motion was made by Comm. Perdun, seconded by Comm. Stork to approve a Resolution to close State Hwy #67 for a Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 29th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon from State Hwy #16 to Mulberry Street. Roll call vote showed all present voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
A motion was made by Comm. Stork, seconded by Comm. Perdun, to renew the health insurance plan with Benefit Administration System (BAS)Healthlink, with the Stop Loss Carrier to be Sunlife Assurance Company for the year beginning 11/1/16 through 10/31/17. Roll call vote showed all present voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
Under New Business, Bob Kincade reported that lime hauling has started and should be complete in 7-10 days. The surveys are still coming in through the mail and the City Clerk’s office. The note on the water bills and in the paper have helped to inform everyone that they are still being accepted. Dir. Angela Sullivan thanked the Council for allowing her entire staff to attend a conference. John Miles, Street Superintendent announced that they would be replacing a culvert in a narrow section of Witt Mill Rd on October 17-19th. Mayor Russell asked the people driving in our City to be aware of pedestrians and show them the appropriate curtesy and concern for their safety. Children can be prone to come out from between parked cars so everyone needs to be watchful.
With no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Comm. Stork, seconded by Comm. Perdun, to adjourn the meeting Roll call vote showed all present voted aye, no nays, motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:11 p.m.
