Godfrey energy committee provides solar panel updates

The village of Godfrey Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee met Oct. 3 to provide solar panel updates.

Godfrey Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee Meeting Tuesday October 3, 2016

Nate Keener, Chairman called the meeting of the Godfrey Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee of the Village of Godfrey to order at 10:00 a.m., October 3, 2016, at the Godfrey Village Hall, 6810 Godfrey Road, Godfrey, Illinois.

ROLL CALL: PRESENT Present: Nate Keener, Carolyn Scott, Susan Murray, Don Dieckmann, Pam Whisler, Lee Sudlow, Vannette McConahey. Absent: Advisory: Virginia Woulfe-Beile.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Carolyn Scott moved for the approval of the minute from August 1, 2016; Seconded by Lee Sudlow. Poll of Committee: Ayes-6, Nays-0, Absent-0. Motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENTS: No public comments at this time.

STRAIGHT UP SOLAR COMMUNITY PRICING PROGRAM UPDATE AND NEXT STEPS: Chairman Keener reported that the Solarize Godfrey Program has been completed and a total of 12 household have sign contracts for solar systems for a total of 132 KW. The next step will be for completion of the systems by Straight Up Solar.

Chairman Keener reported that he has been in contact with Madison County in establishing a Solar Community Pricing Program as a county wide program for next year.

LIGHTING PROPOSAL Chairman Keener reported that A & D Electrical Supply at of Highland, Illinois has made an update with material costs and installation at a cost of $22,000 for six additional LED street lights and will be presented to the Finance Committee for consideration.

CONSIDERATION OF RENEWAL FOR ICLEI LOCAL GOVERNMENT FOR SUSTAINABLILY 2017 MEMBERSHIP Chairman Keener report is up for renewal. The Committee has completed the Sustainability Study and will not be in need of the use of the software. Chairman Keener reported that the Committee will have opinion for use of other software for the reports. Pam Whisler moved to recommend that the Village not renew the ICLEI Local Government for Sustainability 2017 Membership, seconded by Susan Murray. Poll of Committee: Ayes-6, Nays-0, Absent-0. Motion carried.

SUSTAINABILITY PLAN (New Intro Content):

Chairman Keener asked the Committee to continue reviewing the proposed Introduction to the Sustainability Plan for final consideration at the next meeting.

SMART GRID PRESENTATION – NATE KEENER Chairman Keener gave a presentation regarding Smart Grid with Ameren IL to the Committee.

ADJOURN: Susan Murray moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:48 a.m., seconded by Van McConahey.
