The City of Washington budget was $20.98 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $3,633.51 per household.

That's a decrease of 25 percent from 2014, when the city spent $27.96 million, or $4,842.34 per household.

Washington has 5,774 households and a population of 15,816.

Since 2001, the City of Washington budget has grown by 20.7 percent, from $17.38 million. The city population has grown 45.9 percent over the same period, from 10,841.

Salaries accounted for 18.6 percent of city spending in 2015. Washington property taxpayers paid $3.91 million for 59 full-time employees and 31 part-time employees.

In 2001, the city had 54 full-time employees and 27 part-time employees, and spent $2.98 million.
