Village of Godfrey Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee met May 15.

Here is the agenda provided by the Committee:

Alex Cope, Chairman called the Special meeting of the Godfrey Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee of the Village of Godfrey to order at 8:00 a.m., May 15, 2017, at the Godfrey Village Hall, 6810 Godfrey Road, Godfrey, Illinois.

Roll Call: Present: Alex Cope, Robyne O’Mara, Nate Keener, Lee Sudlow, Susan Murray, Don Dieckmann, Vannette McConahey, Pam Whisler, and Advisory: Virginia Woulfe-Beile, Nate Keener. Absent: Carolyn Scott, Earl Watts,

Approval Of Minutes: Pam Whisler moved for approval of the minutes of February 13, 2017 and April 10, 2017, seconded by Robyne O’Mara. Poll of Committee: Ayes-7, Nays-0, Absent-2

Madison County Solarize Program

Chairman Cope reported Madison County-Wide Solarize Initiative - Being carried out through Glen Carbon Cool Cities and Madison County Sustainability office. Nate Keener reported that the programs are going very well. The Program will run through August 2017. Community Power Hour will be hosted by Godfrey sometime later in the Summer.

Update Of Proposal For Lighting Of Village Hall The Village has changed the bulb in one of the light fixture in the Village Hall and have had no problem with the light. Will check to see if all fixtures in the room need to be replaced.

Green Cities Challenge

Chairman Cope reported that the Village approved the participation in the Green Cities Challenge, Madison County has paid the registration fees for the Village.

Virginia Woulfe-Beile reported on the first session with Green Cities Challenge at the Missouri Botanical Gardens with Jean Ponzi. The Committee discuss having Ms. Ponzi attend our next meeting with Village representative there. Also a drive through the Village for her. The Committee suggested the following dates for her visit: July 11th, 13th,18th or 20th. Chairman Cope will invite Ms. Ponzi to visit us on those dates. Clerk Whisler offered to drive Ms. Ponzi thru our community for the tour.

Clerk Whisler also reported that she was working with the Department Heads to provide a list of projects that the Village has completed or has scheduled for Sustainability Projects.

Consideration Of Meeting Time Change

Chairman Cope asked the committee for a date for the next meeting (Special Meeting) June 20 at 12:00 p.m., 2017 at 12:00 p.m.

Consideration Of Recycle Day

Clerk Whisler suggested that the Committee consider holding a E-Waste Day and Shred-It Day together for our residents. Lee Sudlow moved to establish an E-Waste and Shred-it Pickup date for the Village, seconded by Don Dieckmann. Poll of Committee: Ayes – 7, Nays-0, Absent-2. Motion carried. Clerk Whisler will bring back dates to be considered to the next meeting.

Public Comments: Susan Murray suggested that the Village consider passing a Resolution for the Monarch Project within the Parks it improve and increase habitat for Monarchs. The Committee will consider it at a later meeting.

Adjourn: Chairwomen Cope adjourned the meeting at 1:04 p.m.
