The calls in Monmouth included 35 fires - 12 structure fires, four vehicle fires and 15 other fires. The fire department also responded to four calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $10,124,630 in fire loss - or about $289,275 per fire.
The department also received 165 false calls, including one malicious call and 164 other false calls.
The Monmouth Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 15 active employees and 21 retired or inactive employees, was $673,198 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $19,234 for every fire in 2016.
