City of Hamilton City Council met Feb. 12.

The Hamilton City Council met in a special session at 7:00pm with Mayor Walter Sellens, Aldermen Bob Eddings, Bill Johnson, Beverly Boone, Steve Schlatter, and Debbie Summers answering roll call. Also present at the meeting were Tim Hempen, Joe Yurko, Terry Pope, Jason Pohren, Steve Kline and Kirk Cameron.
Mayor Sellens led everyone in the “Pledge of Allegiance”.
Dave Bierbaum entered the meeting at 7:05pm.
Jason Pohren reported to the council that he is purchasing approximately 2 ½ acres of that 134 feet that has US 136 frontage. He plans to put a commercial quadplex approximately 4,000 square feet with four office spaces in it. His hope is to use TIF Funds to put in a concrete parking lot after the building is completed. Jason hopes to break ground this summer or fall.
Steve Kline, our TIF Consultant reviewed the three scenario alternatives. He noted that Jason Pohren will have $49,750.00 that is potential TIF eligible costs. Scenario #1 is the typical pay as you go reimbursement. Scenario #2 accelerates it over a three year period. Scenario #3 is a lump sum reimbursement in 2020. Jason requested that a possible additional scenario where the money is turned over after the building has been completed – 2018/2019.
Bierbaum made a motion to authorize Steve Kline to Draft a Pre-Development Agreement for Jason Pohren’s property and a Proposal regarding the possible creation of the 2nd TIF District. Johnson seconded the motion. Roll was called with Eddings, Bierbaum, Johnson, Boone, Schlatter and Summers voting aye. Motion carried with 6 aye votes and no nay votes.
There being no further business to discuss. Bierbaum made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Summers seconded the motion. Roll was called with Bierbaum, Johnson, Boone, Schlatter, Summers and Eddings voting aye. Motion carried with 6 aye votes and no nay votes.
