Report: Winchester spent $8,975 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Winchester Community Unit School District 1 is up 5 percent from five years ago, according to a West Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Scott County school district spent $8,542 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,975 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 682 to 635.

Winchester's spending in 2016-17 was 31 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
