Report: Brown County spent $10,016 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Brown County Community Unit School District 1 is up 4 percent from five years ago, according to a West Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Brown County school district spent $9,669 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $10,016 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 759 to 744.

Brown County's spending in 2016-17 was 23 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
