McDonough County Human Resources and Planning Committee met May 10.

The Human Resources and Planning Committee met on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse in the Law Library. Committee members in attendance included Chairman George Dixon, Dave Nissen, Mike Cox, and Alice Henry. Members absent were Jennifer Hemingway, Digger Oster, Travis Hiel, and Letha Clark. Others in attendance included Patrick Stout, Kelsey Havens, Bonnie Scripps, Karen Blakely, Eric Blakely, Gayle Carper, County Chairman Scott Schwerer, and Stacey Alexander was present as Committee Secretary.
Chairman George Dixon called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Review & Approval of April 13, 2018 Minutes:
Member Nissen moved with a second by Member Henry to approve the April 13, 2018 minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Animal Control Report:
Animal Control Officer Kelsey Havens gave the report. The total number of Dogs in the shelter at the end of April was 37 and Cats was 41.
The County and State’s Attorney were being sued over 4 cats that were removed from a home in Industry, the cat owners mother filed the lawsuit. An injunction was done to stop the adoption of the 4 cats, and return them to the owner. The lawsuit was dropped.
The Humane Society held a pet wash at Woodrum’s on May 5 with help from WIU students. There was a good turnout, 38 dogs were washed. On June 9th a Wine Whisker and Whimsy fund raiser will be held at the American Legion in Macomb, tickets will be $25

Report on McDonough County Groundwater Protection Education Committee:
Bottles of water were handed out for free at the free water testing that was held on May 7 from 8:00-12:00, May 8 from 12:00-4:30 and on May 9 from 8:00-12:00.

Claims:
Member Schwerer moved with a second by Member Cox to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Other:
Member Henry discussed a campaign for building an animal shelter on property that the County owns at the end of Collins Ave. She is going to talk to Matt Kwacala about this.
Member Henry moved with a second by Member Cox that the meeting adjourns. Motion carried on a voice vote. With no further business to discuss the meeting adjourned at 7:33 p.m.
