Griggsville Fire Department responded to 27 calls in 2017 - 35 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Griggsville included 20 fires - 10 structure fires, three vehicle fires and seven other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $163,100 in fire loss - or about $8,155 per fire.

The department also received six false calls, including one malicious call and five other false calls.

The Griggsville Fire Department had an annual budget of $16,527 in 2017.
