New Canton Fire Protection District responded to 12 calls in 2017 - 7.7 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in New Canton included 11 fires - one structure fire, two vehicle fires and eight other fires.

In all, the department saw $60,500 in fire loss - or about $5,500 per fire.

The department also received one false call.

The New Canton Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $31,984 in 2017.
