Pleasant Plains Fire Protection District responded to 28 calls in 2017 - 180 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Pleasant Plains included 12 fires - one structure fire, one vehicle fire and 10 other fires.

In all, the department saw $125,000 in fire loss - or about $10,417 per fire.

The department also received 16 false calls.

The Pleasant Plains Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $153,407 in 2017.
