Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Pledge Of Allegiance:

The Board and audience stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Announcements:

Superintendent Kilver announced that the FFA students are traveling to Monticello and that the district will start the school year with a full staff.

Comments From The Public:

There were no comments from the public.

Consent Agenda:

Weaver moved and Zimmerman seconded to approve the building level Title I plans, and the release of transportation surplus items. Those members on roll call voting “aye”: Vogler, Zimmerman, Moore, Weaver, and Geltmacher. Nays: None. The motion carried.

Reports:

Superintendent Kilver discussed the mileage savings the Transportation department achieved, the school calendar, and the Committee of the Whole dates.

Approve The Prevailing Wage Ordinance As Presented:

Vogler moved and Zimmerman seconded to approve the Prevailing Wage Ordinance as presented. Those members on roll call voting “aye”: Vogler, Zimmerman, Weaver, and Geltmacher. Nays: Moore. The motion carried.

Approve The Student/Parent Handbooks For The 2018-2019 School Year As Presented:

Zimmerman moved and Moore seconded to approve the student/parent handbooks for the 2018-2019 school year as presented. Those members on roll call voting “aye”: Vogler, Zimmerman, Moore, Weaver, and Geltmacher. Nays: None. The motion carried.

Approve The High School Social Studies Curriculum:

Weaver moved and Geltmacher seconded to approve the high school social studies curriculum. Those members on roll call voting “aye”: Vogler, Zimmerman, Moore, Weaver, and Geltmacher. Nays: None. The motion carried.

Place Policies On Second Reading And Adopt:

Moore moved and Zimmerman seconded to place policies 2:105, 2:170, 2:170-AP, 3:40-E, 4:60-AP2, 4:80, 4:80-AP1, 4:80-AP2, 4:140, 5:20-AP, 6:60, 6:60-E, 6:120, 6:130, 6:135, 6:135-AP on second reading and adopt. Those members on roll call voting “aye”: Vogler, Zimmerman, Moore, Weaver, and Geltmacher. Nays: None. The motion carried.

Executive Session:

Zimmerman moved and Weaver seconded to enter into executive session at 7:16 p.m. to consider the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. However, a meeting to consider an increase in compensation to a specific employee of a public body that is subject to the Local Government Wage Increase Transparency Act may not be closed and shall be open to the public and posted and held in accordance with this Act. 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1).

Collective bargaining matters between the public body and its employees or their representative, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1)

Return To Open Session:

Moore moved and Zimmerman seconded to return to open session at 8:00 p.m.

Employment:

Weaver moved and Zimmerman seconded to hire Tyler Snyder as an assistant BWP Football coach for the 2018-2019 school year pending all background checks and employment requirements. Those members on roll call voting “aye”: Vogler, Zimmerman, Moore, Weaver, and Geltmacher. Nays: None. The motion carried.

Resignations:

Moore moved and Geltmacher seconded to rescind the resignation (effective August 14, 2018) of Sarah Kerfoot. Those members voting “aye”: Vogler, Zimmerman, Moore, Weaver, and Geltmacher. Nays: None. The motion carried. Zimmerman moved and Weaver seconded to rescind the employment offer extended to Wendy Royer for the 2018-2019 school year. Those members voting “aye”: Vogler, Zimmerman, Moore, Weaver, and Geltmacher. Nays: None. The motion carried.

Approve Wpea Contract As Presented:

Weaver moved and Zimmerman seconded to approve the West Prairie Education Association contract for 2018-2021 as presented. Those members on roll call voting “aye”: Vogler, Zimmerman, Moore, Weaver, and Geltmacher. Nays: None. The motion carried.

Adjourn:

Moore moved and Zimmerman seconded to adjourn at 8:03 p.m. Those members voting “aye”: Vogler, Zimmerman, Moore, Weaver, and Geltmacher. Nays: None. The motion carried.
