PASSAVANT HOSPITAL: Passavant Laboratory Receives Accreditation from College of American Pathologists

Lab

Passavant Hospital issued the following announcement on Sept. 11.

The Laboratory Department at Passavant Area Hospital was recently awarded an accreditation by the Commission of Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of an on-site inspection. The Laboratory at Passavant is one of more than 7,700 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide.

The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government’s own inspecting program. Inspectors examine the records and quality control of the Laboratory for the preceding two years, as well as the education and qualifications of staff, facilities, equipment, safety, and management.

“CAP accreditation is the mark of excellence in laboratory medicine. We strive to meet CAP’s criteria so our patients know and trust we are providing excellent care,” said Misty Farris, MLS (ASCP), administrative director of the Passavant Laboratory.
