Carthage Elementary School District 317 Board met Dec. 19.

The Truth in Taxation hearing of the Carthage E.S.D. #317 Board of Education was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Board President Brent Ufkes.

Roll call: Trish Markley/present; Amy Graham/present; Brent Ufkes/present; RyanBlue/present; Robert Menn/present; Andrea Jones/present; Brandon Gooding/present.

Review of proposed tax levy – There were no additional comments or questions.

There were no individuals present wishing to address the board regarding the proposed tax levy.

It was moved by Mr. Menn and seconded by Mrs. Graham to adjourn the truth in taxation meeting at 7:03 p.m. Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr.Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Jones/yes; Mr. Gooding/yes; Motion carried 7-0.

The regular meeting of the Carthage E.S.D. #317 Board of Education was called to order at 7:03 p.m. by Board President Brent Ufkes.

There were no additional agenda items.

Recognition of students that received an “exceeds” ranking on the PARCC test.

There were no visitors present wishing to speak on stated agenda items.

Administrative Reports – Mrs. Hardy reviewed her report.

Mr. Butcher reviewed his report. He asked LeeAnn Lambert to give an update on Builder’s Club and the money they have raised this year. They plan to do “work pledges” in April to raise money for charities.

Mr. Snowden was absent, supervising a ballgame.

It was moved by Mrs. Markley and seconded by Mr. Blue to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Jones/yes; Mr. Gooding/yes; Motion carried 7-0. 

Curriculum Advisory Committee – Mr. Butcher gave an overview of the meeting held on December 5th, where they discussed Response to Intervention and the use of Moby Max during 12th hour to help bring students up to where they need to be. They hope to use this program in grades K-8th in the future.

It was moved by Mrs. Markley and seconded by Mr. Menn to approve the tax levy as presented. Roll call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Jones/yes; Mr. Gooding/yes; Motion carried 7-0. 

It was moved by Mrs. Graham and seconded by Mrs. Markley to approve the Health Life Safety Resolution as present. Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Jones/yes; Mr. Gooding/yes; Motion carried 7-0.

It was moved by Mr. Menn and seconded by Mrs. Markley to approve the submission of the Property Tax Relief Grant Application FY2019. Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Jones/yes; Mr. Gooding/yes; Motion carried 7-0.

It was moved by Mr. Menn and seconded by Mrs. Markley to approve the submission of the Property Tax Relief Grant Application FY2019. Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Jones/yes; Mr. Gooding/yes; Motion carried 7-0.

It was moved by Mrs. Graham and seconded by Mrs. Markley to enter into executive session at 7:32 p.m. for the purpose of discussing personnel. Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Jones/yes; Mr. Gooding/yes; Motion carried 7-0.

It was moved by Mrs. Markley and seconded by Mr. Gooding to exit executive session at 7:48 p.m. Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Jones/yes; Mr. Gooding/yes; Motion carried 7-0. 

It was moved by Mr. Menn and seconded by Mrs. Graham to approve Ann Thompson as a bus aide according to the pay scale stated in the contract between Carthage Elementary School District #317 and the Service Employee’s International Union Local Number 73. Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Jones/yes; Mr. Gooding/yes; Motion carried 7-0.
