Report: Carthage spent $8,056 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Carthage Elementary School District 317 is down 2.6 percent from five years ago, according to a West Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Hancock County school district spent $8,267 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,056 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 446 to 436.

Carthage's spending in 2017-18 was 39.6 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
