Report: Western spent $10,193 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Western Community Unit School District 12 is up 7.7 percent from five years ago, according to a West Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Pike County school district spent $9,461 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $10,193 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 634 to 573.

Western's spending in 2017-18 was 23.6 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
