Report: Brown County spent $12,063 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Brown County Community Unit School District 1 is up 21.6 percent from five years ago, according to a West Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Brown County school district spent $9,919 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $12,063 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 769 to 734.

Brown County's spending in 2017-18 was 9.6 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
