Analysis: Brown County administrators rank 679th in state for average pay

Administrators in Brown County Community Unit School District 1 earn an average of $85,725 per year, ranking 679th out of 864 districts in the state, according to a West Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2018 average is 5.1% lower than in 2014 and 4.8% lower than in 2009. District administrators make 20.1% less than the state average of $107,279.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Brown County school district enrolled 734 students in 2017-18. There is an average of 184 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 181 to 1.
