City of Dallas City Council met March 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The Dallas City City Council held its regular meeting on February 13, 2019, at 5 p.m. Mayor Kevin Six called the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Lila Gittings, Esther Newberry, Harold Northup Jr., and Greg Olson.

Others attending the meeting were Anne Thompson, Doug Erickson, Chris Classen, Gary Smith, and Mariah Wallace.

A motion was made by Newberry, and 2nd by Olson to accept the minutes of the January 23, 2019, meeting. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE.

A motion was made by Gittings, and 2nd by Olson to pay bills. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE.

It was reported that the city's snowplow got stuck while clearing snow during one of the recent snowstorms. Chris Wibbell was called in to pull the snowplow out. A motion was made by Olson, and 2nd by Gittings to pay Chris Wibbell $150 for pulling the snowplow out. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE.

Anne Thompson requested that the agenda for the city council meetings be put on the city's website. The city clerk will start doing this.

Mayor Six reported that he, Commissioner Olson, Police Chief Smith, and the city engineer met this week with representatives from CGB Elevator regarding their expansion plans and the re-routing of the portion of West First Street that goes by the current elevator. The CGB representatives informed the city's representatives that they do want to proceed with their expansion plans. The elevator has hired Benton & Associates to survey the area that is involved with this project. They also discussed the re- locating of the current water main that would be affected by this expansion project or possibly putting valves in the current water main.

Doug Erickson discussed abandoning the sewer lift stations at the elevator and the old water plant. There are grants available for this kind of project. He will check on this and let the council know what he finds out.

Mr. Erickson also reported that he and Chris Classen have not been able to meet with Kaleb Spiekermeier regarding the water in his basement due to the ice and snow.

Police Chief Gary Smith gave his report for the month of January 2019. Part-time officer Christopher Dausch has begun to patrol on his own. Chief Smith has ordered evidence collection supplies and field drug testing items.

Discussed replacing the police department's X26E Taser since there has not been any firmware updates available for this model since 2013 and customer support is no longer available for it. A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Newberry to purchase a Taser Model X26P with a four year warranty, battery, three holsters, a data port, and a training target for $1,897. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE.

Chris Classen reported that Keith Durand had to be hired to bring in his backhoe to help with a water main break recently.

The city attorney informed the council that she did not have anything new to report regarding the current cases.

The city has received a request from the Illini West High School Post Prom Committee requesting a donation. A motion was made by Newberry, and 2nd by Northup to donate $325 to the Illini West High School Post Prom. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE.

A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Newberry to adjourn the meeting. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:08 p.m.
