McDonough County Law & Legal Committee met June 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The Law & Legal Committee held its monthly meeting on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse in the Law Library. Committee Members present included, Vice Chair Travis Hiel, Lee Calvert, Joe Erlandson, Michael Kirby, Bob Mahr, Julie Melvin, and Paul Trimmer. Members absent Rod McGrew. Other persons in attendance were Patrick Stout, Dave Schaab, Chief Deputy Sheriff Adam Cremer, County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes and Tim Lobdell.

Vice Chair Hiel called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Review & Approve May 6, 2019 Minutes

Member Mahr moved with a second by Member Melvin to approve the May 6, 2019 minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Waste Management Update

David Schaab gave the report. In May they received a total of 5,106 tons of various waste.

Tri-County Recycling

Tim Lobdell gave report.

Veteran’s Assistance and Van Report

Veteran’s Superintendent Ric Smart gave the report. Eleven veterans were given assistance in May. Total assistance amounted to $2,417.16. The transportation van made eleven trips to Iowa City. Transported 24 veterans a total of 2,881 miles. Drivers contributed 88 hours of their time.

Sheriff’s Report

Chief Deputy Adam Cremer gave report. Inmate work program is in full swing. Deputy car hit a deer and totaled car. Sheriff’s Department met with Cardinal Power and will corporate with one another.

Assessor’s Office Update

No report.

Claims Review and Approval

Member Trimmer moved with a second by Member Mahr to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

With no further business to discuss, Member Trimmer moved with a second by Member Melvin to adjourn the meeting at 7:26 p.m.
