City of Bushnell City Council met Monday, Oct. 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Mayor Wilt recognized Ashley Ackers with a certificate for being an Outstanding Community Member. Ashley has been on the Park board for almost 4 years and has dedicated her time to helping the community. Thank you Ashley.

Everbridge presentation by Edgar Rodriguez Mayor Wilt introduced Edgar Rodriguez, director of emergency services of McDonough County. She also welcomed many guest from the community that came to listen to the presentation. This alert system will cover the whole county and replace the Code Red system. Rodriquez explained that there Is an app with the system that you can put on your phone that will give you messages on the weather, Road closures, amber alerts, etc. Fifty percent of the cost was funded by a grant. They will be training personal in the community to operate the system when Rodriguez is not available. They are planning on having this system up and running by the first of the year if not sooner and it is free to everyone.

Treasurer

City Treasurer Dan Cortelyou stated that he would be meeting with Craig Myers on Wednesday at 10:00 to finalize the audit.

Cortelyou also stated that he had just started on the tax levy that is due by the end of the year.

Ald. Lorton made a motion to approve the consent agenda, which included the following items:

1. Approval of Minutes from October 7, 2019

2. Accept September Financial report

Ald. Yocum seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

Mayor Wilt informed the council that the firm March, McMillian, DeJoode & Humbert would no longer be representing the city. They do have an obligation to represent us for 60 days. City Attorney Chuck Legler will be leaving the firm at the end of the month.

Legler stated that he would try to wrap up any unfinished business this week.

Ad Hoc (Mayor’s Report)

1. Mayor Wilt instructed the council that when scheduling a meeting they need to

Let the city clerk know and give her an agenda.

2. Mayor Wilt attended two interviews for McDonough Housing Authority.

3. Mayor Wilt reminded everyone to look at our new website.

4. BWP football is up for Hometown Hero award, please vote.

5. Front office is being remodeled, with some paint and new flooring.

6. Mayor Wilt stated that Courtyard Estate are building 2 new villas, the villas

Are 2 bedrooms and will face the existing villas.

7. Bushnell Haunted house is this weekend.

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Meeting next Thursday the 31st at 5:00 p.m.

*Ald. Norton stated that he has been in touch with the labor law lawyer and talks are moving slowly.

Public Works-Street/Sewer/Alley

*Ald. Allen brought up the lights for Washington court.

*Chief Fosdyck asked about getting a sidewalk from Ludlum’s to Dollar General.

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*Next meeting Nov. 11, 2019 at 4:00 complex

*Chief Fosdyck stated they are interviewing a couple of candidates for police officer tomorrow.

*ESDA director Jeff Rench stated he would notify Code Red and tell them that we would be done at the end of the year.

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

*Halloween hours, days & times – Oct 30, 31 6:00-8:00 p.m.

*VFW will be serving a free hot dog and drink for everyone in costume on the 31st 6-8

*The council passed the trick or treat hours with general consensus.

Contracts

*Next meeting Wednesday at 3:00

Ald. Allen made a motion to adjourn.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:07.
