Meeting 07

Beardstown Park District Board of Commissioners met Sept. 25.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The September meeting of the Beardstown Park District board of commissioners was held on September 25th at the Schewe Community Center. Vice President Bob Schaefer called the meeting to order and roll was taken. Commissioners present included Becky Jones, Travis Schroll, Bob Schaefer and Nathan Carls. Also in attendance were Park Director Jason Brockschmidt and Secretary-Treasurer Julie Robertson.

The minutes of the August meeting were approved on a motion by Mr. Schroll and a second by Mrs. Jones.

The Treasurers report was approved on a motion by Mrs. Jones and a second by Mr. Carls. The Claims List was approved on a motion by Mr. Schroll and a second by Mr. Carls.

Mr. Brockschmidt then presented the Director’s Report. He presented a bid for the flooring in the meeting room, but it was decided that the bid was higher than we were willing to spend. He also discussed that we need to replace the chairs in the reception area and the board agreed we should get prices and discuss. He said that we had our bi-annual IPARKS inspection and that they recommend that we remove the old, metal slide at Schmoldt Park. Other recommendations by IPARKS have already been addressed.

Mr. Brockschmidt also said that the Beardstown Baseball Association was approved TIF funds to build new bathrooms between Rice and Lewis fields and this construction should start soon. He also said that Capri was back to close the pool and they successfully found the missing plug. He pointed out that one of the GO Bonds will be due in October. There was a motion made by Mr. Schroll with a second by Mrs. Jones and passed that we will pay off the bond due in October.

Mr. Carls asked if we receive any revenue from the Soccer program. It was answered that we do receive all of the registration and sponsorship money in exchange, we buy the uniforms and maintain the field. Mr. Schaeffer suggested that in the spring we add two additional maintenance employees to divide the hours spent mowing up evenly.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:19pm with a motion from Mr. Carls and a second by Mr. Schaeffer.
