McDonough District Hospital issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.
During the winter weather season, McDonough District Hospital now offers a new way to check on outpatient clinic closures or delayed openings due to inclement weather.
Outpatients can call the MDH Weatherline number (309) 836-1987 for the latest information on clinic closures or delays 24 hours a day. Patients of the: MDH Medical Group, Springfield Clinic, Dr. Tim Biagini of GastroHealth of Illinois, Medical Group of Macomb’s Dr. Mary Kathleen Lockard, and orthopedist Dr. Drake White can also call the Weatherline number for closures or delays.
Any information on outpatient clinic closures will also be announced on www.MDH.org and the MDH social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages).
“This is a new service we are offering to our outpatients during inclement winter weather. It’s intended to assist patients where they can just make a phone call and see if their clinic has closed,” said Peter Rao, Vice President for MDH Medical Group. “Not all patients use social media or have easy access to the internet, so we want to offer another avenue for outpatients to call and check if clinics are open.”
The phone service is available through April 30.
Who can call MDH Weatherline?
The phone number is available for any outpatient in a MDH clinic, Springfield Clinic, Dr. Tim Biagini of GastroHealth of Illinois, Medical Group of Macomb’s Dr. Mary Kathleen Lockard, and orthopedist Dr. Drake White who wants to find out if their clinic is delayed in opening or closed due to inclement weather. The phone number is (309) 836-1987.
When will messages be updated?
If an outpatient clinic were to be delayed in opening or closed for the day due to inclement weather, a message would be updated by 7 a.m. that morning. A patient can call the MDH Weatherline throughout the day for any change in status opening.
If my appointment gets changed due to the weather, how can I reschedule?
Clinics will call patients to reschedule. If a patient has not heard from a clinic on rescheduling an appointment, they are encouraged to call the clinic during the next business day and inquire about a new appointment time.
Could an outpatient clinic close early on a day due to inclement weather?
Yes, if weather conditions are severe enough an outpatient clinic may potentially close early. Any delays in opening or closures for a clinic due to weather will be updated on the MDH Weatherline.
How else will information on clinic closures or delays be shared?
In addition to the MDH Weatherline update, any information on weather-related closures or delays can be found on the social media channels of MDH (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).
