Greenfield Community Unit School District 10 Board of Education met Oct. 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Greenfield Community Unit School District No. 10 met in regular session, in the Administrative Office, on October 15, 2019.

1. President Knittel called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Upon roll call the following members were present: Josh Roberts, Joe Kinser, Elliott Turpin and Rodney Knittel. Chris Weller and Brandi Rynders were absent. Also present were Superintendent Kevin Bowman, High School Principal Beth Bettis, Ron Plogger and Becky McClelland. Brandi Rynders entered the meeting at 7:05 p.m.

2. Roberts motioned and Kinser seconded to approve the agenda as presented. Upon roll call Kinser, Roberts, Turpin and Knittel voted “Aye”. Motion carried.

3. Roberts motioned and Kinser seconded to approve the September 17, 2019 budget hearing and regular meeting minutes as presented. Upon roll call Roberts, Turpin, Kinser and Knittel voted “Aye”. Motion carried.

4. Kinser motioned and Roberts seconded to approve the consent agenda as presented. Upon roll call Turpin, Roberts, Kinser and Knittel voted “Aye”. Motion carried. (See Exhibit No. 1 attached to the Official Minutes)

5. District Highlights – College and Career Ready and PBIS at Greenfield High School Principal Beth Bettis demonstrated to the BOE a new program “Xello” that has been purchased with CTEI grant funds. This program allows all students access from home or school to pursue information on careers, colleges, financial aid information, etc. This program also has lessons that Bettis uses in her classes. PBIS continues to function well in rewarding good behavior and the high school will be having a multi-plex theater as their reward.

6. Superintendent Bowman reported on the monthly FRIS report.

7. Ron Plogger reported on Transportation/Facilities: -Dirt work needed around buildings for run-off

-Elementary fence is in progress

-Oak trees are doing well and all plaques have been sold

-Ron Plogger and Richard Major were thanked for their hard work in readying the football field for the games

-Football field poles need to be replaced and discussion centered on wooden versus metal poles and electrical issues

8. Superintendent Bowman noted he has been in talks with Tony Audo for summer 2020 plans. All the buildings in the district have roofs that need replaced. Other options are to update the locker rooms and to replace high school windows.

9. Elliott Turpin reported on the Greenfield Foundation for Educational Excellence. The treasurer’s report shows a balance of $9301.23. Five mini-grants were approved. Fall fund- raisers include the Chili-Cook-off on October 19, 2019 and a cash raffle to be drawn at the November meeting. The next meeting will be on October 16, 2019.

10. Superintendent Bowman noted that Principal Appreciation Day will be on October 25, 2019. Board Member Appreciation Day will be on November 15, 2019. The Board will be invited for pizza prior to the November meeting.

11. The Greenfield-Northwestern Coop Committee reported on a meeting held on October 9, 2019. Fifth grade boys & girls will coop this year. Junior High track will not coop. There is one coaching opening in High School Girls’ Softball.

12. Superintendent Bowman reported that Rose Parker has submitted her resignation as District Bus Driver.

No Executive Session was held

13. There was no action on Facilities

14. Roberts motioned and Rynders seconded to approve the Annual Financial Report as submitted by Scheffel Boyle at the September meeting. Upon roll call Rynders, Kinser, Roberts, Turpin, and Knittel voted “Aye”. Motion carried.

15. Roberts motioned and Kinser seconded to approve the coop of 5th grade boys and girls basketball and the 2019-2020 Greenfield-Northwestern Coop. Upon roll call Kinser, Roberts, Turpin, Rynders and Knittel voted “Aye”. Motion carried.

16. Rynders motioned and Roberts seconded to accept the resignation of Rose Parker as a District Bus Driver. Upon roll call Roberts, Turpin, Rynders, Kinser and Knittel voted “Aye” Motion carried.

17. Turpin motioned and Roberts seconded to authorize the Superintendent to post for a District Bus Driver. Upon roll call Turpin, Rynders, Kinser, Roberts and Knittel voted “Aye”. Motion carried.

18. Announcements:

-Two Rivers meeting will be held in Beardstown on October 24th

19. Rynders motioned and Kinser seconded to adjourn at 7:45 p.m.
