Beardstown Chamber Of Commerce issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.

The Beardstown Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Little Mexico has been chosen December 2019 Business of the Month!

The nomination was made by an individual who is always extremely pleased with the customer service they receive each time they are at the Little Mexico. They stated that they always receive fast, friendly service, and the food is excellent!

It has also come to the Chamber’s attention that Hector Alvarado, the owner of Little Mexico, donates monthly to Beardstown High School/Middle School. He contacted guidance counselor, Ashley Eckert and said he wanted to do something for the youth in our community but he was unsure about what to do. He has been donating money monthly to the school with the stipulation that the money goes to the youth. He has left it up to the discretion of the school to decide where it can best be used. This month, Ms. Eckert said that in addition to the monetary donation, Hector and the staff at Little Mexico are supplying food for a study night at the school to help students prepare for their semester exams.

When asked if it was common for businesses to approach the school like this, Ms. Eckert stated that, “it was not a common occurrence, but a very welcome one.”

Little Mexico is located at 405 East 4th Street and their phone number is 909-4497.

Their hours are Monday through Wednesday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Little Mexico also caters events.
