Beardstown Park District Board met April 29

Meeting 06

Beardstown Park District Board met April 29.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The April meeting of the Beardstown Park District board of commissioners was held on April 29th via remote conference call. President Johnny Hardwick called the meeting to order and roll was taken. Commissioners present included Travis Schroll, Johnny Hardwick, Nathan Carls and Bob Schaefer. Also in attendance were Park Director Jason Brockschmidt and Secretary-Treasurer Julie Robertson.

The treasurer’s report was approved on a motion by Mr. Schaefer and a second by Mr. Carls.

The claims list was approved after a motion by Mr. Schaefer and a second by Mr. Carls.

While reviewing the Treasurer’s Report, it was brought up that the electric bill at the Schmoldt Workshop was considerably higher than usual. It was mentioned that this is as a result of a heating unit that was installed by the Cass County Fight Club.

Mr. Brockschmidt then presented the directors report. He announced that Commissioner Bob Schaefer had presented his resignation. It was decided that they would select his replacement soon. Mr. Brockschmidt then reminded the board that as the new fiscal year was approaching, they would need to decide on the raise amounts for the Director and Secretary before the May 15th payroll. After that, he discussed the new pay scale for the rest of the staff members. The staff pay scale for fiscal year 2020/2021 was approved with a motion by Mr. Schroll and a second from Mr. Hardwick.

Mr. Brockschmidt said that there will be a delay with the presentation of the budget for the new fiscal year with all of the uncertainties we are currently facing. He said it isn’t actually due until the end of the first quarter of the new year. He said it is yet unknown if we will be opening the pool this summer or having park programs. We will revisit the plan for the summer when we know more about the situation of our state.

He also said that the work is almost complete on the new restroom project. And that work will begin soon on draining and cleaning the pool regardless of weather we will be opening it this summer or not.

At 12:57pm, with a motion by Mr. Schroll and a second from Mr. Schaefer, it was agreed that the meeting would enter into executive session and would be continued at a later date and the raise increases for the Director and Secretary will be discussed at that time.
