County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes says that McDonough County is now allowing absentee ballot applications for the November general election. Voters are urged to cast a ballot before Nov. 3 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Voters can fill out an application by visiting the McDonough County website and clicking on an Absentee Ballot Application link. "Any registered voter in McDonough County can apply online," DeJaynes told WGEM. "After you apply online you will receive an email confirmation that the request was submitted successfully."
The McDonough County Clerk’s Office will be mailing out applications to all voters who do not choose to register at the clerk's office. Voters are urged to fill out and return the application before the deadline.
On Sept. 24, absentee ballots will begin arriving at homes and all should arrive by Oct. 5.
If you do not wish to participate in the mail-in voting, do not return the Absentee Ballot Application.
