Bushnell-Prairie City Schools District 170 Board of Education met July 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Bushnell-Prairie City School District met at 5:00 pm in the Library of Bushenll-Prairie City High School with the following members present: McCleary, Miller, Mendenhall, Oakman, Ferguson, and Yocum, and Croxton. There were several guests in attendance and multiple guests ( over 50) who attended remotely via Zoom.

Public Comments: Christine Pompeo and Elise Rodeffer spoke in opposition of mandated wearing of masks when returning to school.

Board members discussed the "Return to Learn Plan" developed by District staff. Conversation centered arormd the mandatory wearing of masks. Motion by Member Oakman to approve the plan, excluding the requirement to wear face masks. No second. Motion fails. Motion by Member Mendenhall, seconded by Member Miller to approve the plan as presented. Voting Aye: Mendenhall, Miller, and Croxton. Voting Nay: McCleary, Ferguson, Yocum, and Oakman. Motion fails. Motion by Member Oakman, seconded by Member Ferguson to adjourn the meeting. All in favor.

Meeting adjourned at 6: 18 pm.
