Bushnell-Prairie City Schools District 170 Board of Education met July 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education met in a Special Meeting at 5:00 p.m. in the High School LRC with the following members present: McCleery, Miller, Ferguson, Mendenhall, Oakman and Croxton. Absent: None

Public Comments: Megan Seaver spoke to the Board expressing that she would like to see students return to a full day of school. Katie Spangler spoke in support of the Return to Learn plan with students and staff wearing masks. Wyatt McGrew spoke in favor of wearing masks.

Motion by Member Mendenhall, seconded by Member Miller to approve the Return-to Learn Plan as presented. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Ferguson, Mendenhall, Oakman and Croxton. Nay: None

Motion by Member Mendenhall, seconded by Member Ferguson to accept the resignation of Shawna Yocum as school board member effective immediately. Voice vote: All in favor.

The School Board vacant seat will be appointed at the August Board Meeting. The board will take applications for the position through July 31, 2020 with interviews being conducted. The newly appointed Board Member will serve the remainder of the term thru April 2021.

Motion by Member Oakman, seconded by Member Mendenhall to adjourn the meeting.

Voice vote: All in favor
