City of Jacksonville Commission on Disabilities and Human Relations met Nov. 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

Present: Alan Bradish (Chairman), Mary Watts (Vice Chair), Eddie Lowe (Secretary), Guy Crumley, Nancy Harper, Ruth Linear, Colton Pettyjohn

Absent: Jaime Filo-Cruz,

Guests: Peggy Davidsmeyer, Ted Huber 

WELCOME AND CALL TO ORDER 4:08 PM

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion: To approve the minutes of 10/1/2020

Discussion: None

Carried: Unanimous

PUBLIC COMMENT

• None

NEW BUSINESS

• Peggy Davidsmeyer, Executive Director of JACIL

Peggy described JACIL’s response to the COVID crisis. She highlighted the mission and objectives of JACIL. She discussed JACIL programs, funding for these programs and the make-up of the JACIL board and staff.

OLD BUSINESS

• Goodwill Career Center

Nancy met with Barbara Barber and discussed the services provided by Goodwill. Their services range from assistance with resume creation to interview preparation. Anyone that is interested in employment assistance is encouraged to contact the Career Center.

• Alan announced the resignation of Ralph Hastie and Jaime Filo-Cruz 

Motion: To approve the resignation of Ralph and Jaime

Discussion: None Carried: Unanimous

• Allan encouraged Commission Members to present names of potential replacements for the open positions at the next Commission Meeting.

• Homeless Center

Allan discussed the progress with establishing a Homeless Center

HUMAN RELATIONS ISSUES

• None 

MISCELLANEOUS

• Next meeting date: December 3rd, 2020

• None
