McDonough County Law & Legal Committee Met March 1.

The Law & Legal Committee held its monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Courtroom 201. Committee Members present included Committee Chair Joe Erlandson, Vice Chair Ken Durkin, Lee Calvert, Eric Chapman, Michael Kirby, Terra Litchfield and Julie Melvin. Member absent was Travis Hiel. Other persons in attendance were County Chair Scott Schwerer, Committee Secretary Stacey Alexander, Patrick Stout, Ric Smart, Tim Lobdell, Sheriff Nick Petitgout, Dave Schaab, County Board Secretary Erica Wilmot, Rod Flora, and Oliver Ellen.
Chair Erlandson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Review & Approve February 1, 2021 Minutes
Member Chapman moved with a second by Member Litchfield to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Waste Management Update
Dave Schaab gave the report.
Tri-County Recycling
None
Veteran’s Assistance and Van Report
Ric Smart gave the report. Seven Veterans were given assistance in February. Total assistance amounted to $1,405.15. He also stated the number of driver’s is back up, and they are allowing two Veteran’s per trip.
Sheriff’s Report
Sheriff Nick Petitgout gave the report.
Assessor’s Office Update
No report.
Approve Revisions to McDonough County Wind Farm Ordinance
Chair Erlandson Went over updates and changes. Chair Erlandson informed the Committee that he sent the Ordinance to County Engineer Rick Walker to look over.
Member Chapman moved with a second by Vice Chair Durkin to send The Wind Farm Ordinance to the States Attorney for Review. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Claims Review and Approval
Member Calvert moved with a second by Member Melvin to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Other
A discussion was held regarding COVID-19 bonuses for the County Sheriff’s Department employees.

County Board Chair Comments
County Chair Schwerer informed the Committee that the Auditors will be at the Courthouse Tuesday- Friday this week. Chair Schwerer also stated that Megan with Sikich is leaving.
Chair Schwerer informed the Committee that Lynette Cale from The Health Department has resigned effective March 18, 2021.
