Home prices increased in Carthage during the first quarter of 2019

The median sale price of a home sold in the first quarter of 2019 in Carthage rose by $24,500 while total sales decreased by 42.9%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through March of 2019, there were four homes sold, with a median sale price of $59,500 - a 70% increase over the $35,000 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were seven homes sold in Carthage in the first quarter of 2018.

The median sales tax in Carthage for 2019 was $1,547. In 2018, the median sales tax was $1,578. This marks an decrease of 2%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2.6%.
