In a Sept. 18 Facebook post, Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer gave a glimpse into how he spent his Saturday. In addition to these community activities, the representative also spoke out on controversial issues such as abortion and the SAFE-T act, all in the midst of a campaign.

"Soccer in Lincoln, Griggsville Applefest 50th Parade, MaCoupin County Lincoln Day Dinner. Nice little Saturday… It was a long day, but great to see so many friends out and about!" he said of his Saturday activities.

Davidsmeyer also criticized the special session on abortion.

“Gov. Pritzker is calling a special session to waste hundreds of thousands of dollars on the issue of abortion, only to score political points," he said

Davidsmeyer additionally criticized the SAFE-T act and called for citizens to listen to the opinions of law enforcement officers on the matter.

“If you have time, please take a second to see some of the concerns that law enforcement and prosecutors have with the SAFE-T Act and how it will affect the safety of our communities," Davidsmeyer said

Davidsmeyer confirmed his campaign to represent the 100th District in December 2021. Redistricting changed the locations that the 100th District encompasses. Davidsmeyer's hometown is no longer within those boundaries.

As an outcome of the redistricting, Davidsmeyer will be running to represent a district that runs from Alton to South Jacksonville, but still includes all or portions of Calhoun, Greene Jersey, Madison, Pike, and Scott counties.
