City of Hamilton City Council met June 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

ROLL CALL

The Hamilton City Council met in regular session at 7:00pm at the Hamilton City Hall or remotely by Zoom. Attending in person were Mayor David Bierbaum, Aldermen Tommy Buckert, Beverly Boone, Steve Schlatter and Brandon Wilson, City Clerk Michelle Dorethy, and Aron Metternich. Tom Hartzell was present as City Attorney. Debbie Summers attended electronically on Zoom.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Bierbaum led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

MINUTES OF JUNE 6, 2022

Wilson made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 6, 2022 meeting. Buckert seconded the motion. Roll was called with Buckert, Bierbaum, Wilson, Boone, and Summers voting aye. Schlatter abstained. Motion carried.

WELCOME VISITORS

Mayor Bierbaum asked if there were any visitors attending in person or remotely that would like to address the Council. There being none he preceded with the meeting.

MAYORS COMMENTS:

Mayor Bierbaum reported the following items:

The Hancock County Board will awarded the City of Hamilton $25,000 of their ARPA funds to go towards the Industrial Park Sewer Extension.

The Finance Committee will need to discuss the Juneteenth Holiday for next year

There will be a meeting on Thursday, June 9th to discuss with IMEG the progress on the Sewer Line Extension and the new Police Department Building.

Representative Norine Hammond will send an update on the bridge approach

Reminder to cast your vote on Tuesday, June 28th.

FINANCE & APPROPRIATIONS:

Western Illinois Regional Council Membership

Summers made a motion to approve the Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC) dues for 2022-2023 for the amount of $1,651.80. Wilson seconded the motion. Roll was called with Bierbaum, Wilson, Boone, Schlatter, Summers, and Buckert voting aye.

Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report

Summers made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Bierbaum seconded the motion. Roll was called with Wilson, Boone, Schlatter, Summers, Buckert and Bierbaum voting aye.

Appropriation Ordinance #3

Summers made a motion to approve the Second Reading of Ordinance #3 Appropriations. Bierbaum seconded the motion. Roll was called with Boone, Schlatter, Summers, Buckert, Bierbaum and Wilson voting aye.

Motion carried.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Wilson reported the Health & Safety Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, June 28th at 5:30pm. The committee will discuss several issues including properties with tall grass violations, burning trash and dogs at large.

BUILDING & GROUNDS, PERMITS & ZONING:

Building/Demolition Permits

Boone made a motion to approve the following building permit: 235’ Chain link fence to Stephanie Munson at 171 North 20th Street. Schlatter seconded the motion. Roll was called with Schlatter, Summers, Buckert, Bierbaum, Wilson and Boone voting aye.

Motion carried.

PUBLIC WORKS

Buckert thanked all the departments for their hard work around the city.

ECONOMIC & TOURISM

Buckert reported he met with the committee working on the dog park as well as the location to place the turbine. He noted the architect is still working on the plans for the base.

Bierbaum made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:40pm. Buckert seconded the motion. Roll was called with Summers, Buckert, Bierbaum, Wilson, Boone and Schlatter voting aye.
