City of Pittsfield City Council met Aug. 16.

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held in the Council Room at the Pittsfield City all at 215 N Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor Gary Mendenhall, City Clerk Ann Moffit, and Alderman Bill Grimsley, Chris Little, Robert Ritchart, Beth White, Robert Wilson. Alderman Kevin Ketchum, Kevin Wombles and Alderman Paul Lennon were absent.
Mayor Mendenhall presided.
Alderman White moved to approve July 02, 2022 city council minutes.
Alderman Little seconded the motion.

Mayor’s Announcements:
A meeting was held with 120 Water in reference to Lead Water Line Replacement as required buy the EPA.
The Well #4 Preconstruction meeting was held with City Officials, MECO Engineering, Brotcke Well and Pump and the USDA.
Mayor met and welcomed new teachers at the Courtyard Café.
A Public Safety Committee and Personnel Committee meeting was held last week.
Mayor Mendenhall and Clerk Ann Moffit attended a County Elected Officials meeting hosted by the PCEDC.
August 15 was Carolyn Casteels 99th Birthday. Mayor Mendenhall and Clerk Ann Moffit attend the birthday celebration as well as presented her with a proclamation deeming August 15, 2022 as Carolyn Casteel Day in the City of Pittsfield.
To clarity the concern of the amount of Natural Gas contracted for future years, the City has contracted 100% of Natural Gas thru March of 2025.
Mayor Mendenhall met with CASCO and received a bid for sealing the walking path at Lowry Park and the Tennis Court at the Lake.
City employees ID badges should be completed this week.

Kathy Zimmerman, Bob Norris, and Joe Zinner presented reports from the Civil War Reenactment. Bob Norris thanked the City for their support and indicated that the attendance this year was very good despite the increased gas prices.

Alderman Grimsley moved to approve the road closure of the north lane of Adams Street between Jackson and Monroe Street for repairs to the Catholic Church, with the entire road being closed for one date, beginning August 22, 2022, for approximately 2 – 3 weeks.

Alderman Ritchart thanked the City crews who placed the mats at the base of the merry-go-round at Lowry Park.
Mayor Mendenhall thanked Shelter Insurance for donating the pads for the merry-go-round and swings.
Ed Knight, Economic Development Director, stated that the Economic Development Committee met and approved the Business Incentive Program application submitted by Kenna’s Closed.
Tom Reinhardt announced that the garden tractor pull will be held August 27, 2022.
Mayor Mendenhall announced that the City of Pittsfield has been awarded a Downtown Revitalization grant.
