The Board of Education met in a Regular Meeting on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC with the following members present: McCleery, Miller,
Oakman, Croxton and Webb. Absent: Mendenhall
Public Comments: Nathan Harrison thanked the Board for the opportunities he was given at Bushnell-Prairie City Schools.
The Board reviewed the Consent Agenda.
Motion by Member Oakman, seconded by Member Webb to approve the Consent Agenda which contained the following: Minutes of the January 18, 2023 Regular Meeting, Payment of Bills, Treasurer's Report and Investments, Student Activity Accounts, Manual and Void
Checks and Imprest Ledgers. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Oakman and Webb. Nay: None Abstain: Croxton
Superintendent, Dr. Dinger, reported on High School Construction: Bids for windows and auditorium.
Motion by Member Oakman, seconded by Member Miller to adjourn to Executive Session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees and to interview potential candidates to fill board vacancy.
After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Oakman, Croxton and Webb. Nay: None
Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Oakman to adjourn Executive Session and return to Open Session. After a voice vote, all in favor, Motion carried.
The Board reviewed the Personnel Report.
Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Webb to approve the Personnel report as submitted: Resignations: Brandy Allaman as Junior High School English/LA effective the end of the 2022-23 School Year. Nathan Harrison as Junior High School Principal effective immediately. Employment: Britney Corbin as 1:1 Paraprofessional Pre-K effective February 10, 2023, Andrea Ferguson as JH Scholastic Bowl Coach effective 2022-23 School Year.
Elizabeth Treadway as Elementary Art Teacher effective 2023-24 School Year. Brayden Davis as Elementary 1st Grade Teacher effective 2023-24 School Year. Change in Status:
Carrie Scarbrough from 3rd Grade Teacher to 1st Grade Teacher effective 2023-24 School Year. Emily Jackson from JH English/LA and Science to Elementary 5th Grade effective 2023-24 School Year. Carol Jones from Elementary Art to Elementary Math Interventionist effective 2023-24 School Year. Melissa Gray from 5th Grade Teacher to 3rd Grade Teacher effective 2023-24 School Year. Alicia Peterson from 4th Grade Teacher to 5th Grade Teacher effective the 2023-24 School Year. Tiffany Churchill from 1st Grade Teacher to 2nd Grade Teacher effective the 2023-24 School Year. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Oakman, Croxton and Webb. Nay: None
The Board reviewed the new courses to be offered at the High School.
Motion by Member Croxton, seconded by Member Oakman to approve the following new High School Courses to be offered the 2023-24 School Year: Intro to Business, Business Communication, Business Principles and Management and Keyboarding. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Oakman, Croxton and Webb. Nay: None
The Board reviewed the Substitute Teacher daily pay rate and Full-time Substitute Teacher salaries.
Motion by Member Oakman, seconded by Member Webb to approve the Substitute pay as discussed. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller Oakman, Croxton and Webb. Nay: None
The Board discussed appointing a New Board Member to fill the vacancy created by Devin Kozicki as she moved out of district.
Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Croxton to appoint Allen Thompson as a board member to fill the vacancy left by Devin Kozicki's resignation. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Oakman, Croxton and Webb. Nay: None
Board President, John McCleery, administered the Oath of Office to appointed Board Member Allen Thompson.
Superintendent, Dr. Dinger, reviewed Board Policies related to Curriculum and Content.
Motion by Member Oakman seconded by Member Croxton to adjourn the meeting.
After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
