Brown County Community Unit School District 1 Board met March 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular Board of Education meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Brown County Middle School library. The meeting was called to order by Heath Fullerton. The minutes were recorded by McKenzie Taute.

Roll call: Fullerton, yea; Blaesing, yea; Blakeley, yea; Hughes, yea; Eichelberger, yea; Koch, yea; Boylen, yea.

Attendance: Lan Eberle, Pollee Craven, Alex Ebbing, Lisa Hannel, Kris Gallaher, McKenzie Taute, Jessica Robertson, Emily Frank, Marcy Frank, Stephanie Havens, Carter Havens, Paityn Havens.

Visitors:

Mr. Ebbing recognized Brown County Middle School Student of the Month, Carter Havens. Ebbing said

Havens was nominated by Mrs. Kallenbach who noted Carter leads by example, is a hard worker, prepared, organized, and has a positive atitude.

Mrs. Craven recognized Brown County High School Student of the Month, Marcy Frank. Craven said Frank was nominated by Mrs. Miller who noted Marcy is every teacher’s dream student, excels in the classroom, has tremendous work ethic, and leads by example.

Correspondence:

Fullerton thanked Brown County State Bank for their monthly Affinity Card donation in the amount of $475.77.

Discussion Items:

Revenue and Expenditure Update: Eberle explained that the district was 70% through the fiscal year as of 3/15 and had received 136% of expected revenue and disbursed 72% of expected expenditures.

Eberle noted the large increase in revenue in the Operations and Maintenance fund was due to the roof replacement check the district received in February from Selective.

Negotiations Update: Eberle told the board that all requested information has been provided to both bargaining units and there was nothing new to report at this time.

Crow’s Nest for Baseball/Softball Streaming: Eberle discussed the possibility of building a crow’s nest for baseball and softball streaming. Eberle mentioned that Steve Surrat had contacted him about building the structures using volunteers for the labor and donations for the supplies. Eberle explained to

the board that the district’s atorney was adamant that an architect complete the design for liability purposes. Eberle mentioned that Surrat had an architect that might be able to assist with the plans.

Eberle told the board that he would consult with an architect.

Next Board Meeting – April 24, 2023, at 5:45 P.M.: Fullerton explained that the regular February meeting will be changed to April 24 at 5:45 p.m. Fullerton explained that the meeting was moved to allow time for the canvasing of election results.

Eberle explained that the district’s mandatory participation in the ISP Law Enforcement Clear and Present Danger Portal was in effort to notify authorities of individual(s) that may present a danger to themselves or others.

Motion by Eichelberger, seconded by Fullerton, to approve the Agreement Governing Brown County School District’s use of the ISP Law Enforcement Portal for the Purposes of Submitting

Clear and Present Danger Reports.
