City of Rushville City Council met June 28.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

A SPECIAL MEETING WAS CALLED BY MAYOR JEFF ERVIN TO ADJOURN TO CLOSED SESSION TO DISCUSS PERSONNEL – 5 ILCS 120/2 (C)(1) AND DISCUSS & CONSIDER PERSONNEL ISSUES. Notices of the “Special Meeting” were duly served. Said notices are filed with these minutes.

1. ROLL CALL

Mayor Jeff Ervin called the “Special” meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and directed City Clerk, Stacey Briney to call the roll. Upon roll call the following answered present: Susan Acker, Richard Davis, Terry Dodds, Bob Fishel, Bryan Matteson, Barry Rebman, Mike Ryan, and Paul Trimble. A QUORUM WAS PRESENT.

Others present included City Clerk, Stacey Briney; Superintendent of Operations, Eric Thurman; Labor Attorney, Chris Walters; Davis Haney of The Rushville Times; City Employees, Chris Parr & Vernon Boker; Operating Engineers Representative, Mike McQuay; and Operating Engineers Attorney, Jay Kimmey.

2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Jeff Ervin.

3. OPENING PRAYER

The Opening Prayer was led by Mayor Ervin.

4. PUBLIC COMMENTS

There were no public comments at this time.

5. ADJOURN TO CLOSED SESSION TO DISCUSS PERSONNEL – 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(1)

Dodds MOVED TO ADJOURN TO CLOSED SESSION TO DISCUSS PERSONNEL – 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(1). Fishel SECONDED, AND THE MOTION CARRIED WITH AN ALL “YEA” ROLL CALL VOTE AS FOLLOWS: 8 YEAS – Acker, Davis, Dodds, Fishel, Matteson, Rebman, Ryan, & Trimble; 0 NAYS; 0 ABSENT. OPEN SESSION STOOD ADJOURNED TO CLOSED SESSION AT 6:01 P.M.

6. RETURN TO OPEN SESSION

Open Session reconvened at 6:21 p.m. with the following present: Mayor Ervin; Council Members – Acker, Davis, Dodds, Fishel, Matteson, Rebman, Ryan, & Trimble; City Clerk, Stacey Briney; Superintendent of Operations, Eric Thurman; Labor Attorney, Chris Walters; David Haney of The Rushville Times; City Employees, Chris Parr & Vernon Boker; Mike McQuay, Operating Engineers Representative; and Jay Kimmey, Operating Engineer Attorney.

7. DISCUSS & CONSIDER PERSONNEL ISSUES

Rebman MOVED TO APPROVE UPHOLDING THE COUNCIL DECISION IN EXECUTIVE SESSION TO TERMINATE VERNON BOKER’S EMPLOYMENT EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. Davis SECONDED, AND THE MOTION CARRIED WITH AN ALL “YEA” ROLL CALL VOTE AS FOLLOWS: 8 YEAS – Dodds, Fishel, Matteson, Rebman, Ryan, Trimble, Acker, & Davis; 0 NAYS; 0 ABSENT.

8. ADJOURN

Rebman MOVED TO ADJOURN. Ryan SECONDED AND THE MOTION CARRIED WITH AN ALL “YEA” ROLL CALL VOTE AS FOLLOWS: 8 YEAS – Fishel, Matteson, Rebman, Ryan, Trimble, Acker, Davis, & Dodds; 0 NAYS; 0 ABSENT. THE MEETING STOOD ADJOURNED ACCORDINGLY AT 6:23 P.M.
