City of Barry City Council met Sept. 11

City of Barry City Council met Sept. 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Rennecker called the regular meeting of the Barry City Council to order at 7 p.m. He then led all present in the Pledge of Allegiance. All elected officials were present.

Steve Schultz made a motion to approve the minutes from the August meeting and Bridget Cramsey seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent. Debbie Harshman made a motion to approve payment of the bills and Steve Schultz seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent. Officer John Pennock from the Pike County Sheriff’s department gave the police report. He reported there were 5 arrests: 1 felony, 1 misdemeanor and 3 traffic arrests. Mayor Rennecker asked about the Flock safety cameras. Officer Pennock stated they do not issue tickets. These cameras are license plate readers and an infrared technology scans a license plate and immediately goes to data base that determines if the registered owner is wanted by law or is a danger to society and is also useful for amber alerts If it shows up anything it will alerts law enforcement. If nothing shows up with license plate it will be deleted from system.

Robert Snyder gave the Public Works Director report He stated it had been a busy month. They winterized the pool and got the shades down for the winter. They had two small service line leaks and got them fixed, trimmed trees on the parade route and cleaned a sewer line on Mortimer Street.

Jeff Hogge gave the City Administrators report. He worked on the City insurance renewal with Corkill. Workman’s comp wanted to know expected payroll for next year. He attended Code Court and confirmed the dumpsters for fall cleanup. He was approached about a “Children at Play“sign to be placed on Smith Street between the Ice House and McDonough Street. Since school has started the kids are driving fast and they worry about the little kids getting hit. The new doors for the Museum have finally been installed.

Water tower inspection contract was discussed. Council decided to use Preferred Tank and Tower at a cost of $995. This will allow an inspection without draining the tower; a drone will be used to inspect the inside and be in service while it is done. Steve Schultz

made a motion to go with Preferred Tank and Tower and Justin Puterbaugh seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent.

Mayor Rennecker stated that FEMA has approved Pike County’s Hazard Mitigation plan. To be able to apply for funding for items in the plan we need to adopt a resolution supporting this plan. Marynel Corton made a motion to approve the resolution and Debbie Harshman seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent. Max Middendorf discussed Pay request # 1 for Visu Sewer. The amount of pay request is $23,601.80 for videos of sewer lines for 6400 linear feet of sewer lines. Steve Schultz said go ahead and pay request # 1 in amount of $23,601.80 and Justin Puterbaugh seconded the motion. Roll call taken:

Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent to approve pay request #1. Mayor Rennecker discussed the Flock safety cameras. He said the cost is $1900 plus a yearly fee of $2500 per camera. Steve Schultz asked if we have a place in the budget for this year and can it be moved. It tracks license plates for various reasons. Steve Schultz and Justin Puterbaugh was in favor and Marynel Corton said she would like to think about it. Max Middendorf said would probably get more hits up by the truck stop. Bridget said she went to web site and they have different types of them and Steve Schultz asked if they have insurance on the lights if it gets hit. This is tabled to next months meeting. Bridget Cramsey made a motion to adjourn and Justin Puterbaugh seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent. Meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
