City of Pittsfield City Council met May 21.

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held in the Council Room at the Pittsfield City all at 215 N Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor Gary Mendenhall, City Clerk Ann Moffit, and Alderman Kevin Ketchum, Bill Grimsley, Paul Lennon, Chris Little, Robert Ritchart, Beth White, Robert Wilson, and Kevin Wombles.
Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the May 07, 2024, city council minutes.
Alderman White seconded the motion.

Mayor’s Announcements:
Mayor Mendenhall stated that after reviewing the budget, at this tie there will be no truth in taxation hearing.
Mayor Mendenhall attended, and presented awards at the DARE Graduation at PCS. A meeting was held with Mayor Mendenhall, Clerk Moffit and Alderwoman White and library personnel.
A check-in meeting was held with Make My Move. We have 90 applicants, 15 pre-approved applicants, 6 offers and 3 accepted offers on the table. Make My Move was featured on the Today Show. Pittsfield, Matoon and Jacksonville were specifically mentioned in Make My Move segments on Fox News St Louis as well as an article in the Jacksonville Journal Courier.
The Brown County Music Boosters will host Little Texas on May 26 in Mt. Sterling. We have worked with RentMyFun, they are working on an install date.
Mayor Mendenhall has been working with Steve Kline from the Economic Development Group on TIF District matters.

Public Safety Committee met and received an update on the Fire Truck. Derelict vehicles and Neighborhood Vehicle stickers were discussed.
Alderman Ketchum advised that the Ordinance Committee met and reviewed Ordinance No. 1733, An Ordinance Authorizing the Sale of Land known as Industrial Park West by the city of Pittsfield.
Alderman Lennon moved to approve Ordinance No. 1733, An Ordinance Authorizing The Sale of Land Known As Industrial Park West By The City of Pittsfield.

Mayor Mendenhall stated that during a recent meeting with members of the Library Board they indicated that they would like to become a district. Attorney Morris explained that Library District becomes it’s own taxing body, with elected officials. This can be done by the City Council approving a resolution adopted by the Library Board or by referendum.
Alderman Ritchart moved to reaffirm Resolution 2024-05 A Resolution Approving the Sale of Real Estate Between the City of Pittsfield and Legends Holdings, LLC, originally approved on April 26, 2024. Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

New Business:
Alderman Grimsley thanked the Street and Alley employees for spreading chips on the roads on Saturnday.
Alderman Wombles asked Max Middendorf when the Higbee Memorial Street will be set. Mr. Middendorf stated it should be around the 1st of June.
Alderman Little thanked Deputy Chief Thompson for her work on an incident he was involved in over the weekend.
Ed Knight stated that a meeting was held with a contractor for the East Boat Ramp project and the Elevator Contractor.
