City of Hamilton City Council met June 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. ROLL CALL

The Hamilton City Council met in regular session 7:00pm at the Hamilton City Hall. Attending were Mayor Bocephus Casey, Aldermen Tommy Buckert, Justin Hobby, Brandon Wilson, and Debbie Summers, Clerk Michelle Dorethy, Public Works Director Aron Metternich, and Police Chief Mike Boley. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Casey led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. MINUTES OF MAY 20, 2024

Wilson made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 3rd meeting. Summers seconded the motion. Roll was called with Buckert, Hobby, Wilson, and Summers voting aye.

Motion carried.

4. WELCOME VISITORS

Mayor Casey welcomed visitors Tim Etter and Doug Dunlap.

Tim Etter presented the council with a list of broken Frontier poles and lines down causing potential hazards. He is a former employee of Frontier and has given the Mayor and Council a contact name.

Doug Dunlap reported to the Council that he appreciates all the work the city is doing regarding Animal Control.

5. MAYOR’S COMMENTS

Mayor Casey reported the following items:

• Flag Day was great. Thank you to everyone for all their work on this project. Buckert noted that there were 102 waivers signed.

• He will appoint Andrew Asbury next meeting and assign the committees.

6. FINANCE & APPROPRIATIONS

a. Selected Check Registers/Treasurer’s Report

Summers made a motion to approve the Selected Check Registers and Treasurer’s Report. Hobby seconded the motion. Roll was called with Hobby, Wilson, Summers and Buckert voting aye.

Motion carried.

7. HEALTH & SAFETY

Wilson reported the Health & Safety Committee will hold a meeting on Thursday, June 27th at 5:30pm.

8. BUILDING & GROUNDS, PERMITS & ZONING:

Mayor Casey reported the Building and Grounds Committee will hold a meeting on Thursday, June 27th at 6:30pm.

a. Building/Demolition Permits

Wilson made a motion to approve the following permits:

1. 35 Rooftop Solar Panels to Tyler-Brianna Taylor at 180 S 13th

2. 22 Rooftop Solar Panels to Karla Sanderson at 741 Church St

3. 22 Rooftop Solar Panels to Donald Johnson at 261 S 6th St

4. 30’L x 7 ½’W x 7’H Lean-to-cover to Doug Dunlap at 355 N 10th St

Buckert seconded the motion. Roll was called with Wilson, Summers, and Buckert voting aye.

Motion carried.

b. Zoning Recommendation Windy Hills Solar Farm

Mayor Casey reported that the Zoning Commission met to discuss the zoning change for the Windy Hills Solar Farm. He noted that the commission voted to approve recommending the change with some contingencies. Their recommendation will be presented at the committee meeting on June 27th.

9. PUBLIC WORKS

Schlatter reported the Public Works Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, June 25th at 5:00pm. Public Works Director, Aron Metternich reported that they receive their licenses for the mosquito abatement. He asked the Council to let him know of any standing water that needs to be treated.

10. ECONOMIC & TOURISM

Buckert reported the Economic and Tourism Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, June 25th at 6:00pm.

a. Possible Event Vendor Ordinance

The committee will discuss further but will request Attorney, Tom Hartzell to write up a new ordinance to address the vendor sign up cost for City events.

11. ADJOURNMENT

Hobby made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:00pm. Buckert seconded the motion. Roll was called with Summers, Buckert, Hobby and Wilson voting aye.
