The request, made by West Central Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought detailed information about all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024 till September 26, 2024.
The specific fields requested include the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount paid. In other news related to Illinois's infrastructure and development, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced in July 2023 the most extensive multi-year program named Rebuild Illinois. This initiative aims at improving and repairing all modes of transportation across the state.
Governor JB Pritzker stated that over $40 billion would be invested over six years into this project. "That means better roads and bridges, modernized transit and aviation, and expanded and faster passenger rail service," he said.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, ten major projects are being planned or implemented in Chicago under JB Pritzker's Rebuild Illinois program. A whopping $396 million is being invested in these projects aimed at improving safety and mobility on Illinois's roads and bridges. Three out of these ten projects are scheduled for completion in 2024 while the remaining seven are projected for completion between 2025 through 2030.
Furthermore, an investment of $107 million has been announced for seven projects in Kane County under the Rebuild Illinois program. In central Cook County alone, ten projects have been allocated a budget of $220 million for constructing roads and bridges as part of this initiative.
