The Western Illinois University (WIU) Softball team successfully hosted its second annual Hit-A-Thon fundraiser, collecting $20,650. The event took place at Mary Ellen McKee Stadium on Saturday, October 5. This year's fundraising total more than doubled the amount raised during the inaugural event in 2023.

Head Softball Coach Alisa Goler expressed her enthusiasm for the team's efforts: "I am so excited for the team! They really leaned into this fundraiser and went above and beyond." She extended gratitude to "our WIU softball families/friends, alumni, members of our athletic department, and WIU faculty," emphasizing that it was a collective effort from the Leatherneck community. Goler added, "We cannot thank those that donated enough for their support. We hope to see those that helped us out at a game this spring!"

The funds raised will be used to support various aspects of the softball program, including travel and competition costs for the 2025 season. Coach Goler is dedicated to fostering the development of Leatherneck Softball both on and off the field, with this successful fundraiser reflecting that commitment.

WIU Softball conveyed its appreciation to all participants and supporters who contributed to making this year's Hit-A-Thon a success. Those who missed the event but wish to donate can find more information online.
