Following their first postseason appearance in over a decade, the Leathernecks are set to begin their second year in the Ohio Valley Conference with an instate matchup at the Huskie Invitational. They will face Northern Illinois to kick off the season and then compete against Milwaukee on August 31.
In the second week of play, WIU will host the Leatherneck Classic for the second consecutive year. The tournament will feature matches against South Dakota State, Purdue Fort Wayne, and the University of Illinois Chicago.
The Leathernecks' non-conference schedule includes trips to North Dakota and Charleston Southern. In North Dakota, they will play Belmont twice and face North Dakota. The East Coast trip involves matches against Charleston Southern, Norfolk State, and Sacred Heart.
Ohio Valley Conference play begins with a home series against SIUE on September 27-28 at Western Hall. This is followed by a match against Lindenwood, marking their first visit to Macomb.
WIU's first road OVC series takes them to Cookeville, Tennessee, where they will face Tennessee Tech on October 3-4. The team returns home to host Eastern Illinois on October 10-11 before concluding October with games against Southern Indiana and UT Martin.
As the regular season winds down, WIU will play five of their last seven games on the road. This stretch starts with matches in Little Rock, Arkansas, on November 1-2 and continues with a game at Lindenwood on November 5.
The final home games are scheduled against Morehead State on November 7-8, during which seniors will be recognized after the game on November 7. The regular season concludes with two games in Nashville against Tennessee State starting November 14.
Western Illinois aims for consecutive postseason appearances for the first time since their four-year streak from 2004-2007. The Ohio Valley Conference Championship is slated for November 23-26, hosted by the regular season champion. Further details about this event will be released later in the season.
