Western Illinois University's volleyball team is set to conclude its non-conference schedule at the Buc Dome Invitational in Charleston, South Carolina. The Leathernecks will compete in three matches: two on Friday against Charleston Southern and Norfolk State, and one on Saturday against Sacred Heart.

The Leathernecks enter the tournament with a 3-5 record, having won one out of three matches at the UND Classic last week. The team leads the nation in digs per set with an average of 21.19. Senior libero Karli Wenzel from Manteno, Illinois, played a significant role defensively last weekend by recording 66 digs over ten sets. Her performance earned her a spot on the all-tournament team and recognition as the OVC Defensive Player of The Week.

Charleston Southern hosts the tournament with a 3-7 record, featuring wins over Furman and Tennessee State. Skylar Yates leads their offense with an average of 3.42 kills per set across 36 sets this season. Brenna Rowland has been strong defensively with 39 blocks so far.

Norfolk State arrives at the invitational holding a 3-6 record, including victories over Lamar, Gardner-Webb, and Hampton. Gabrielle Gilbert leads their attack with an average of 4.16 kills per set in 31 sets played.

Sacred Heart comes into this event after losing four consecutive matches but holds a record of 3-6 overall. Allison Murray and Camryn Luginbuhl are key offensive players for Sacred Heart, both averaging over three kills per set.

Following these games at Charleston's Buc Dome Invitational, Western Illinois will return home to start conference play by hosting SIUE and Lindenwood in late September.
