The Bradley Pink Classic marked the conclusion of the regular season for the Leatherneck cross country teams. The men's race featured 35 teams, while the women's race included 38 teams. Full results are available online.
Coach Trey Brokaw commented on the team's performance, stating, "Our overall team performance wasn't what we expected to achieve today. We have two weeks to work out the kinks and bring our best performance to the Summit League Championships."
Leadership on both teams came from upperclassmen Logan Lommel and Paulina Wuestefeld. Notably, all three freshmen women achieved personal bests in the 6k distance. Kayden Gilmore showed significant improvement by reducing her time by nearly a minute compared to two weeks ago. Kristina Petrou and Aylana Cezar also improved their personal records by 32 seconds and 7 seconds, respectively.
Coach Brokaw acknowledged the challenges faced by young athletes at this level: "It can be tough for young athletes to gauge their performance when stepping up to the collegiate level. A personal record is a great way for them to see where they are at, while their place in a competitive field doesn't always show that improvement."
The Leathernecks will compete next at the Summit League Championships in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on October 29th.
